Our Board

  • Dr. Andrew T. Goldstein graduated from the University of Virginia and the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He pursued his internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Beth Israel Medical Center. After completing his residency, Dr. Goldstein moved to Annapolis, Maryland and in 1999, he joined the faculty of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and in 2002 he became the Director of the Centers for Vulvovaginal Disorders in Washington, D.C and New York City (www.vulvodynia.com). He is currently a Clinical Professor at the George Washington University School of Medicine.

    Dr. Goldstein is the Past-President of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH). He is a Fellow of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG), the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease (ISSVD), the International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM), the Society for Sex Therapy and Research (SSTAR), and the Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA). Dr Goldstein has been a grant recipient of the National Vulvodynia Association and other private foundations. He is the founder and President of the Gynecologic Cancers Research Foundation (www.gyncancer.org). He was an Associate Editor of the Journal of Sexual Medicine, The Female Patient, and Current Sexual Health Reports. He has co-authored/co-edited 8 books: Reclaiming Desire ((Rodale: 1st edition 2004, 2nd edition 2009), Female Sexual Pain Disorders: Evaluation & Management (Wiley- Blackwell: 1st edition 2010, 2nd edition 2020), When Sex Hurts (DaCapo: 1st edition 2011, 2nd edition 2022), Management of Sexual Dysfunction in Men and Women: An Interdisciplinary Approach (Springer: 2015), and the Textbook of Female Sexual Function and Dysfunction (Wiley-Blackwell, 2018).

    Dr. Goldstein is actively involved in research and has published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, and book chapters on female sexual dysfunction, sexual pain disorders, lichen sclerosus, vulvodynia, vulvar vestibulitis syndrome (vestibulodynia), and cervical cancer. He has lectured extensively on the subjects of vulvodynia, vulvar disease, and female sexual dysfunction, and has been interviewed by many media outlets and publications including 20/20, The View, Dr Oz, Good Morning America, Katie, Dr. Drew, The Discovery Channel, BBC, local affiliates of CBS, NBC, ABC, and Fox, New York Times, Washington Post, Allure, Cosmopolitan, Essence, Women’s Health, and Prevention.

 
  • Dr. Karen O’Keefe is originally from Virginia and graduated from University of Virginia as an Echols Scholar. She attended medical school at McGill University and then completed a Family Medicine Residency at Atlanta Medical Center. She worked there for three years as Faculty member in Atlanta before moving to Bellingham, WA and joining Family Care Network, a physician owned community family practice organization. She continues to practice full spectrum family medicine seeing newborn to geriatric patients. She is especially passionate about preventive medicine and women’s health. She has been fortunate enough to use her skills on five volunteer brigades in Peru, Ecuador, Dominican Republic and two areas of China, practicing primary care and cervical cancer screening. She has also volunteered locally performing health assessments on children placed in foster care and during the COVID pandemic, assisting in testing stations in underserved parts of her local county. Dr O’Keefe is married with two daughters. Outside of work, she loves traveling, boating and can often be found hiking on many of the trails in Bellingham with her dog, Ginger.

 
 
  • Dr. Gail Goldstein was born in California and grew up in Vienna, Virginia. She matriculated at The University of Virginia, where she was an Echols Scholar. She stayed at UVA where she obtained a master’s degree in Medical Ethics. She then attended medical school at New York University, where she graduated with honors in molecular and cellular biology. Dr. Gail Goldstein completed her medical training in dermatology at the University of Maryland and then joined the Annapolis Dermatology Center. Dr. Gail Goldstein practices both general and cosmetic dermatology and has lectured on subjects such as dermatological diseases of pregnancy, skin cancer prevention, the ethics of cosmetic surgery and medical volunteerism. Dr. Goldstein is a multi-year recipient of What’s Up Annapolis Top Doctor and Chesapeake Family’s Favorite Docs for Dermatology.

 
  • Eric Wiland is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where he teaches a wide variety of courses in practical philosophy, including bioethics. He is the author of Guided by Voices: Advice, Moral Testimony, and the Forging of a "We" (Oxford, 2021) and Reasons (Continuum, 2012). He organizes the St. Louis Annual Conference of Reasons and Rationality (SLACRR).
